Apple's long-rumored smart display is finally real, and oh boy, it’s pretty sleek. The HomeView brings a Liquid Retina screen and a more capable Siri to the center of your living space for $299, arriving just as BYD is turning heads with a $35,000 electric sedan that somehow manages 816 miles of range and a near-full charge in under ten minutes while looking like a treat. And finally, AI spoke in the Parliament, and it was a tear-jerker, in a good way!

Apple just gave your home a brain, and it's called HomeView
Apple has officially entered the smart display market with HomeView, a $299 device that combines a 7-inch Liquid Retina screen, a built-in speaker base, and a more capable version of Siri into a single hub designed to sit at the center of an Apple-connected home. The device arrives in four finishes and can be either placed on a countertop with its adjustable hinge or mounted flush to a wall, with both configurations carrying the same price tag. For anyone already running HomePods, iPhones, and Apple TV hardware under one roof, HomeView is clearly designed to be the connective tissue that ties all of it together. What makes HomeView more than a glorified smart home remote is its ability to recognize up to six people in a household and serve each of them a personalized view of apps, widgets, calendars, and reminders the moment they walk up to it.
The updated Siri powering the device handles more natural conversation, understands context from what is currently on screen, and can draw on information from a paired iPhone or iPad to answer questions about upcoming appointments or past messages. Conversations started on HomeView can also continue seamlessly on an iPhone, iPad, or Mac. Privacy protections ensure that personal information surfaces only when the correct person is recognized, their paired device is nearby, and that device has been recently unlocked. Beyond the personalization layer, HomeView handles the expected smart home workload, thermostats, lights, locks, and up to nine simultaneous security camera feeds, while doubling as an entertainment screen with support for Apple Music, Apple TV, podcasts, FaceTime with Center Stage, and Spatial Audio playback. Pre-orders open today, with units shipping November 13.

INIU’s new Rugged Series is built for power off the grid
INIU is expanding its portable charging lineup with the new Rugged Series, designed for hiking, camping, and other off-grid use. Tesla's top rival reveals a $35K EV that goes 816 miles and charges in 9 minutes
BYD has officially launched the Da Han, a flagship full-size electric sedan that pushes the boundaries of range and charging speed in the segment. Starting at roughly $35,200, the rear-wheel-drive entry model carries a 102.3 kWh second-generation Blade Battery good for 816 miles on the WLTP cycle, while BYD's flash charging technology can replenish the pack from 10 percent to 97 percent in just nine minutes, a figure that would represent a genuine leap over most of what is currently available in the market. A more powerful dual-motor variant produces 764 horsepower, sprints to 62 mph in 3.3 seconds, and still manages 713 miles of WLTP range.
The Da Han is built around the kind of interior that positions it squarely against luxury long-wheelbase sedans. Its 3,130-millimeter wheelbase underpins a cabin wrapped in white ash wood trim, Nappa leather, and a 31-speaker Devialet audio system, while a 40-inch augmented reality head-up display anchors a cockpit loaded with screens. Rear passengers get electric leg rests, a folding screen, a small table, and the same heating, ventilation, and massage functions offered up front. Every trim level also comes standard with BYD's latest God's Eye 5.0 intelligent driving system and dual-chamber air suspension with road preview capability. Launch pricing came in meaningfully below the pre-sale figures BYD had floated, suggesting the company is determined to make the Da Han competitive from day one.
UK lawmaker uses ElevenLabs AI voice clone to speak in Parliament
Baroness Jane Campbell made history in the U.K. House of Lords this week by becoming the first person to deliver a parliamentary speech using an AI-generated voice clone. Campbell, who has spinal muscular atrophy, a degenerative condition that has progressively weakened her natural voice, worked with ElevenLabs to recreate the sound of her voice as it existed before her illness worsened. She wrote the speech herself, and the AI read it aloud to the chamber during a health debate, with Campbell introducing the moment by saying the technology would allow her to contribute "in my own, once-clear voice." ElevenLabs worked with Campbell to fine-tune the clone for authenticity, using recordings to capture the nuances of her earlier voice.
The company's speech therapist noted that the process is a dramatic improvement over pre-AI alternatives, which required recording nearly 400 sentences and still produced a robotic result limited to a single language. ElevenLabs also used what it calls emotion tags to ensure the replicated voice carried natural feeling and tone rather than sounding flat or mechanical. Campbell received formal permission from the Lords procedure committee to use the technology, an institution whose protocols stretch back centuries. Having previously been granted an exception in 2012 to allow a personal assistant to read her speeches on the floor, she now has a more personal and direct means of participation, one she described as showcasing inclusion in democracy at its best.

This desktop printer does a lot more than 3D printing
Most desktop printers are built around a single workflow. HeyGears’ G1X takes a broader approach, combining full-color 3D printing, 2D UV printing, raised textures, and textile workflows in one system. With an eight-channel ink setup and support for more than 400 materials, it gives creators and small businesses a more flexible way to turn digital ideas into finished products without relying on multiple machines.
